“Prana” comes from Sanskrit and can be translated to breath or lifeforce. Prana exists around us, within us, in the food we grow, the air we breathe and the way we move.
Founder Nicoline Yde Planck
Prana Yoga Copenhagen was founded by Nicoline Yde Planck in 2023.
We offer classes, private sessions, and workshops in Yin Yoga, Breathwork, Meditation and Journaling.
In my teaching, I combine knowledge of yoga philosophy and elements from Chinese medicine with practical exercises, giving you a holistic understanding of your body. Each session has a specific focus. Afterwards, there’s time for a cup of tea and a chat if you’d like. When I'm not teaching Yin classes I’m sudying Health and Nutrition at the University of Copenhagen. I also host yoga retreats around Europe to combine my love and knowledge for food and yoga.
You can follow along on Instagram at @nicolineyde, where I share my lifestyle, knowledge of yoga, and delicious healthy recipes.
Yin Yoga is the feminine and relaxing aspect of yoga. In Yin Yoga, the focus is on deep stretches, with poses typically held for 3-5 minutes. These extended stretches strengthen connective tissue and help the body ease into the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for digestion and recovery. In Yin Yoga, we work with the breath and the vagus nerve, the longest cranial nerve, which connects the brain to all internal organs. The vagus nerve helps lower heart rate when we breathe slowly and deeply, and it’s also responsible for stomach discomfort when we experience mental stress. Practicing Yin Yoga strengthens our connective tissue and helps prevent joint injuries, whether due to sports or aging. Yin Yoga is, therefore, a union of body and mind. It not only increases flexibility but also offers an opportunity to enhance mental well-being.
In a Yin Yoga session with us, you will experience 15 min pranayama, calming music during the poses, followed by a closing shavasana. Soothing herbal tea is always served after the session as well as a raw snack or juice shot.
